My Weekend, and a Sweet Tea Recipe!

My weekend was rather eventful. Starting with the whole situation with hubby's aunt Peggy. The family is not taking it too well. His grandpa just passed last February, so it's understandable. Two deaths in a year is not what I'd call a happy thing.
Here she is, with her husband Steve, of 35 years.

He is definitely not taking it well.
I couldn't even imagine. 35 years is a long time.
Grandpa and Grandma were married 59 years before his death this year. Now, THAT'S a long time!
Anyways, I know I explained the whole situation with funeral arrangements and such, so we're just waiting and hoping and praying about that.
I just want to ask for more prayers for this family in this time of grief. It is truly sad.

------------------------------------------------------------------

On Saturday I went to a friend's baby shower. My friend Ashley who I have known since elementary school. She is expecting her first baby, a boy, next month.
It was probably one of the best showers I've been to. So put together. Everything was nice. The food was great, the decorations were beautiful, and the games were a lot of fun. I didn't take the babies with me so I could actually enjoy the shower, instead of chasing two toddlers around. I'm glad I didn't have them with me! I had a great time. One little bit was awkward, though. Two of the guests included my ex-boyfriends wife and my hubby's "ex-fling"... lol. I get along very well with my exes wife and we have a lot in common. She's a great woman and I am really happy for them. (He was an ex from 8th grade.. lol. So it wasn't serious. But he was my last boyfriend before Dallas.)
Me and Dallas' "ex", on the other hand, do not get along so well. But it was fine. I just did not speak to her. Nothing was said. Although I did feel a little tension from her and I caught her staring a few times.. haha. But I'm mature and I believe I handled it well. Pretty weird though, don't you think?

The kids are doing great, and napping at the moment, so I am going to share my sweet tea recipe with you! It's actually specifically for Devin, because she requested that I share it! :o)
So here we go!

Ingredients needed: 6 regular sized tea bags (I use Lipton- see the box below. Make sure they're the regular sized tea bags and not the family size. I do NOT use "cold brew" I use the regular tea bags for hot OR cold tea.), 2 cups (give or take for your preference) of sugar, 1 gallon of water.

Fill up a 1 gallon pitcher HALF WAY with water.
Pour the half gallon of water into a big pot, put the pot on the stove and add the 6 tea bags into the water. Turn the stove on high, and get the water with the tea bags going to a good boil. After it is boiling really well, cover the pot, turn off the heat, and remove from the burner.
Set your timer for 45 minutes and let the covered pot (with the tea bags still in it) sit.
During the 45 minutes take your empty 1 gallon pitcher and add the sugar. I use 2 cups, but to some people that might seem like a lot so you may use however much you like.
When the 45 minutes is up, uncover the pot and remove the tea bags. Then pour the tea into your pitcher. The tea will still be hot so be careful. The point to this is to melt the sugar so it dissolves well into the tea. After you've poured the hot tea over the sugar and stirred it, fill up the rest of the pitcher with cool water, stir some more.
Refrigerate and enjoy over ice! Add a slice of lemon if you'd like!

Everyone always tells me how good my tea is, so if you're a big sweet tea fan, try it and let me know what you think!

Happy Monday, everyone! :o)
